When celebrities disobey the rules of eye shadow.
I have a few comments on this image of Kristen Bell at the Baby Mama premiere.
1. I love Gossip Girl much. She narrates it. So, I pretty much love her too. (Not love love, xoxo love.)
2. She has some sweet-ass skin. Look at it! So luminous and glowy and plumpy! (Without a doubt the 'After' shot of a girl who has enjoyed a pre-red carpet facial within the last 10 hours.)
3. She is doing green on green. That is, green eyeshadow on green eyes. I am a fan of this, even though I know that really, the most flattering eye shadow shade is the opposite colour to your iris colour, not the identical one. (It also tends to be slightly more flattering when it's matte and is teamed with rosy cheeks and a slight pink lip, all fun and Spring like. But big, polished thumbs up to her for experimenting.) If you extract the disco-y, shimmery elements of this creation, do you like it? Or, do you think she should've stuck to browns/charcoals (or even the lilacs as per the Iris Accentuation Guidelines.)
Update: The outfit. Which is, as one fruit said, very relevant. (And look! It's green. Which prompts a whole new question: Is it right to match makeup to outfits in this manner? Or is it a little bit Miss Universe? I say it depends on how good you are at applying makeup...)

If you think about it, if that was Kate Moss in the same dress it would look so cool! I think the problem is that she looks too straighty-one-eighty and clean cut to ever be considered a fashion icon, and even though the eye make-up is done well I personally do not like it one her green eyes and think it is all a bit Miss Universe (but am willing to consider that this is just a bad photo and will look at other pics to decide). In saying that I do think she has lovely skin and hair, more Reese Witherspoon then Moss, which isn't such a bad thing really...

not a huge fan of the dress but it looks good on her...as far as the matchy matchy thing goes i think she pulled it off!!

poor k-bell. she can look so great sometimes, but more often than not she needs a stylist!
oh, and i'm a brown-eyed girl and I've found light blues tend to look best with my eyes. i've always heard that blue eyes should stick to browns and green eyes stick to purples.

I love this look, its a bad picture. Its in alot of get this look articles already, and looks so much prettier up close
She can wear anything, but I have to say good for her and her make up artist for trying something cool and different..it keeps people talking

I have seen her in other images and the make up is fabulous!! I think this image is just way too lighted..I love the green on her eyes, and that skin is awesome. I'm glad her artist kept it super clean..Check out other images, the eyes are really done beautifully...

Thanks for showing the outfit!
That does change things a bit. I'm not a huge fan of the dress and I'm not sure if the eyeshadow actually goes with the dress (the green on the dress seems somewhat darker than the eyeshadow...)
I don't do the matchy matchy thing myself so if I were her I probably would've gone with lilac eyeshadow... and possibly a different dress...

Have to agree with Jamie - the eyeshadow is waaay to disco. Although I do think that matching eyeshadow with eye color can be hot. I have brown eyes and I always use a brown eyeliner and shadow when I'm doing smokey eyes. It makes the brown look lighter somehow...
Horrid dress by the way

I think she looks hot, love the green!

Jamie, I think pink is more likely to be the opposite colour for green eyes. If you have blue eyes, the opposite colour is meant to be orange, so I think you're meant to try coppery-coloured eyeshadows.

The dress is awful.....
I agree it is a tad Miss Universe or 70 year old spinster if prefer to match eyeshadow to outfit. However, obviously SOME rules can be broken as her makeup looks fresh and springy and suits her despite the green eyes/green shadow combo. She definitely pulls it off.
Love it!!

That dress is ug. I don't think her make up really is matching her outfit as it's much too light (unless it's the lighting). Unfortunate example of no matter how good the canvas is, you can still botch up the painting, imo.

I think she looks a tad ridiculous. The green is so light it looks like she is wearing white shimmer or something awful like that. Bit too 90's for my liking.
Fruity, you mention that you should wear eyeshadow that is the opposite colous to your eyes. So if someone has blue eyes does that mean they should wear pink eyeshadow? Cause I have blue eyes and pink looks stupid on me. So does purple. Some greens look ok, so does some blues if I'm careful. I usually just stick to browns though.

Too much? I think so.

Love the green eyeshadow. But then again Kristin Bell could wear a bag over her head and still look gorgeous. Have to say I'm not lovin' that dress though, ugh.

Ugh, I love Kristen but that dress is fugsville . I'd love her gorgeous glowy skin though!

Just like they told Whitney at Teen Vogue in one of the early Hills eps - 'it's sorta like being too matchy-matchy'. I don't rate it. Love Kristen Bell though, she will always be sassy little Veronica Mars to me.

The first thing I wondered is - what colour is she wearing?
I have a friend that matches her eyeshadow to her outfit colours...
I'm not a fan of green at all really. But I have brown eyes with green flecks and I love purple. So I wear alot o purple eyeshadow (when appropriate) and I love how different it makes my eyes look.
I think she should have gone with a lilac, but it does depend what she's wearing, doesn't it?

In that photo it washes her out a bit. If it were a darker green I reckon it would have looked nicer. Like a forest green. A FIR forest green ;-)

I like it. She looks really young. How old is she anyways?
